About Me
Hi. I'm PJ. I've been designing and sewing for about a decade.
I grew up in a community where sewing was 'girly' and 'women's work' so I was discouraged from ever learning about it. I also grew up with three older sisters, so I gained an appreciation for sewing and fashion, but never got to act on it.
Finally, in my 30s, after attending a number of comic book conventions, I asked my sister to show me how a sewing machine works so I could try to make my own cosplay. And a whole new world opened up to me. I dove into the world of sewing and pattern drafting using every online resource and book I could get. I could make clothes for myself and my wife that actually fit us properly. I could make whatever cosplay we wanted to do.
Then I started thrifting and finding reclaimed materials, and yet another world opened up. One of slow fashion and sustainability. One where looking great and keeping fabric from landfills didn’t have to be mutually exclusive. Due to being made with reclaimed materials, my clothing will have imperfections. And that’s ok, because we all do. But we can love our imperfections.
And I realized I wanted to be able to share that world with other people.
Now I've set up a home sewing studio for myself, I’m making cool stuff, and I am loving every moment I spend in it. I hope you’ll love what I make as well. Because I think clothing should make you feel good, both because of how you look and because of how you buy.
That’s why my motto is ‘Feel good, look good, be you.’
